The 3 levels of communication in the #MeWeIntl methodology run parallel with the 3 focus areas of positive change targeted by our communities of practice.

Internal Communications

Individual

Interpersonal Communications

Community

Public Communications

Culture

Individual

Internal Communications
We begin at the individual level by building awareness of how the brain communicates with the body through basic exercises in neuro-education and chronic stress.

The program then explores interoception, the often overlooked sense that gives each of us an awareness of the internal state of the body through awareness of physical sensations.

Exercises reframe internal narratives about how one communicates with his/her body, then mind.

Through experiential exercises incorporating controlled breathing, mindfulness, and narrative therapy (creative writing exercises), participants begin to reframe how the mind and body communicate with one another, thereby restoring confidence and agency with one’s mind and body.

Community

Interpersonal Communications
Gradually the methodology shifts from ‘me’ to ‘we’ through small group interactions focused on peer-to-peer sharing.

This enhances public speaking skills, active listening, perspective taking, and creative collaboration.

Creating brave spaces through small group collaborations puts the learnings about
cognitive empathy and communications skills into action.

Culture

Public Communications
The final stage of the methodology closes the circle of ‘me’ and ‘we’.

Participants share their internal and interpersonal discoveries, messages, and ideas to the broader group and their communities.

Inspired by narrative therapy and logo-therapy, this stage
merges narrative and goals-setting exercises through writing, video blogging, and public speaking exercises.

#MeWeIntl
provides participants with framed communication and storytelling missions, where each individual has the opportunity to create and share messages and ideas promoting positive change in culture through community-led gatherings, installations, and publications.

Breakdown

Community Methodology

1.

#MeWeIntl’s strategic goal is to cultivate communities of practice at individual, community, and organizational levels. Our process begins with engaging in a community-needs assessment and co-creation stage with local partners. Data and community-informed ideas are then used to customize local #MeWeIntl, tools, trainings, and programming.

2.

#MeWeIntl then engages community members on either direct service or training of trainers programming. Training of trainers programs equip local community members with facilitation skills and #MeWeIntl tools so that they can lead their own #MeWeIntl hubs, peer to peer.

3.

Over a period of 2-3 years of partnership, #MeWeIntl works towards a community ownership model where individuals, the community, and local organizations own the intellectual property, tools, and trainings of the local #MeWeIntl program.
